Shirley J. Harnatkiewicz, 82, of Swansboro, NC, formerly of Feasterville, PA, died on Wednesday, June 27, 2012, at her home in Swansboro, North Carolina.
Shirley was born January 17th, 1930 in Philadelphia, to the late John Armstrong and Frances Armstrong (Martini). She grew up in Philadelphia, graduated from Olney High School and lived in the city for many years. In 1950 Shirley married the love of her life, Leon J. Harnatkiewicz. They moved to Feasterville, in 1963 into a house that became their castle. They spent the next 44 years together raising four children and enjoying their grandchildren until Leon’s passing in 2007.
Shirley later moved to Swansboro, NC to be with family. Shirley liked to talk and be around people. She was a very friendly, happy and kind person. She was her happiest when around her family to whom she showed unconditional love. She will be sadly missed as a devoted mother, grandmother and friend, though solace can be taken that she goes to meet her husband who will greet her with a smile and to welcome her home.
Shirley is the loving mother of Lee J. Harnatkiewicz and his wife Holly of Cinnaminson, NJ, Jack C. Harnatkiewicz and his wife Debra S. of Swansboro, NC, Frances M. Nelson (Harnatkiewicz) and her husband Tracy of Dresher, PA, and Robert L. Harnatkiewicz and his wife Lauren S. of Greensboro, NC. She is also survived by her sisters Anne O’Brien, Beverly Peppelman and Marie Janowski, she is also survived by her 6 dear grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
