Mary C. Scarborough Carter passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 30, 2012 at her residence, surrounded by her loving family. She was 61.

Mary was born in Abington, daughter of Mary Jane Adams Scarborough of Newtown and the late Earl L. Scarborough. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert W. Carter, with whom she shared 24 years of marriage.

Mary was a lifelong resident of Newtown and Langhorne. After graduating from Council Rock High School in 1969, she began working for First National Bank Trust Company of Newtown and she retired in 2008 after 39 years of service.

She was a member of Addisville Reformed Church for 8 years. Mary was also heavily involved in the Newtown Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, holding the position of treasurer for many years, and also serving in the Pickering Manor Nursing Home Ladies Auxiliary.

Mary had many hobbies and interests. She and her husband loved to travel, and visited many places around the world. Mary was an avid bowler, enjoyed reading, puzzles, and watching TV, especially Law and Order SVU. She was very crafty, and loved to knit, cross stitch, and crochet. Most of all, Mary loved her children and grandchildren, and will be missed dearly by her family and friends.

Mary is survived by her daughter: Paula M. Dadak, and her husband Frederick, her step son: Jeffrey R. Carter, and step daughter: Laurie S. Carson, wife of David, all of Langhorne; her brothers: Donald Scarborough of North Carolina and Earl “Skip” Scarborough of Newtown; her sisters: Betty Kemler of Wisconsin and Bonnie Johnson and Clara Scarborough, both of Newtown; her five precious grandchildren: Keira, Brittany, Melissa, Kyle, and Alyssa; and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewings on Wednesday evening, Sept. 5, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Rd. (at Holland Rd.), Richboro and on Thursday morning, Sept. 6, at the Addisville Reformed Church, 945 Second St. Pike, Richboro from 9:00 a.m. until her funeral service at 11:00 a.m.

Interment will follow in Newtown Cemetery, Newtown.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Susan G. Komen Cancer Foundation, 125 S. 9th St., Suite 202 Philadelphia, PA 19107.
