Paul R. Beckert, Jr. Esq. of Newtown died peacefully on Friday, September 28, at St. Mary Medical Center Langhorne, PA. He was 64.

Paul was the beloved husband of Harriet M. Beckert for 41 years.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of Norma Jean Smith Beckert and the late Honorable Paul R. Beckert, Sr.

Mr. Beckert earned his undergraduate degree in History from Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA. Paul then went on to earn his Juris Doctorate from Villanova University School of Law, graduating 1st in his class. Practicing law for over 40 years in Bucks County, Paul served his community in a variety of ways. In his leisure, he enjoyed reading, playing golf, watching sports—especially football—and spending quality time with his family.

Paul was a history buff who enjoyed reading and learning about U.S. and European history, especially the Civil War. On a quest to see all of the U.S. state capitals, Paul was able to visit over half of them with his wife, Harriet. Even-tempered, quick-witted, and a storyteller, Paul was often heard saying, “Did I ever tell you about the time…” Paul will be sorely missed as a loving and devoted son, husband, brother, father, and friend.

In addition to his loving wife and mother, Paul is survived by his children and their spouses; Matthew J. Beckert and Kim of Phoenix, AZ, Andrew S. Beckert and Sarah of Holland, PA, and Elizabeth N. Heier and Andrew of Waltham, MA. He is also survived by his sisters Susan and Cathy Beckert.

Paul’s family will receive friends and family on Tuesday, October 2, from 9:30 AM until his Funeral Service at 11:00 AM at St. John’s United Methodist Church, 820 Almshouse Road, Ivyland, PA 18974. Interment will follow at Newtown Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to St. John’s United Methodist Church, 820 Almshouse Road, Ivyland, PA 18974 and the American Cancer Society, 1626 Locust St. Philadelphia, PA 19103.
