Robert E. “Gene” Mefford of Newtown, PA died peacefully on Saturday, October 27, 2012 at his residence surrounded by his devoted family. He was 72.

He was the beloved husband of 53 years to Kathryn A. “Kay” Ross Mefford. It is not goodbye, but see you soon. I will miss you until then, but it is never goodbye. There is a new angel looking over me now until we meet again.

Born in Oldham County, KY he was the son of the late Arthur D. and Hattie L. Curtis Mefford and brother of the late William A. Mefford.

Gene started in the printing business working with his sister at an early age. He worked for a few years with his sister and also as a press mechanic before venturing out and opening his own company. He owned and operated Deadline Printing for many years. During his ownership, he went to school to become a master electrician. Gene always enjoyed working in both fields throughout his life.

He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting with his brothers, sons, and friends in Tioga County. Gene was a creative gardener who enjoyed utilizing his home grown vegetables in the many culinary creations he made for his family. He also was a devoted fan of the Phillies. His love for Bluegrass music will live on forever. He will be sadly missed and forever remembered as a loving and devoted family man. He will also be missed dearly by the many friendships he made throughout his life.

In addition to his wife, Gene is survived by his children; Dennis R. Mefford (Sarah) of Feasterville, Donna M. Transue (Gary) of Pipersville, Dorothy A. Madison of Pipersville, David E. Mefford (Ida) of Albrightsville, Diane M. Mefford of Lewis, DE, and Dawn L. Grandinetti (Tony) of Horsham. He is also survived by his 4 brothers Hubert M., Norris T., Dwight A., and Jerry W. Mefford, 6 sisters Louise W. Burchill, Mary M. Gorski, Lorena F. Smith, Florence Mikula, Phyllis A. Beilharz, and Linda S. Miller, 14 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren.

Gene’s family will receive condolences on Friday, November 2, 2012, from 10:00AM until his memorial service 11:30AM at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Rd. (at Holland Rd.) Richboro, PA 18954. Interment will be private.
