Thomas H. Haag, 77, died peacefully on December 11, 2012.

He was the beloved husband of Dorothy (née Struebing).

Born in Philadelphia, Tom was the son of the late Albert and Julia Haag, and brother of the late Albert Haag and Joseph Haag.

Tom was a long-time resident of Bucks County, Pennsylvania and Long Beach Island, New Jersey. Most recently he resided in Holland, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Lincoln High School and later from LaSalle University with a B.S. in Chemistry. Tom served in the U.S. Army for two years in Heilbronn, Germany as a fire direction computer in a howitzer battalion.

Tom was a research chemist for the Rohm & Haas Company, rising to become Laboratory Head for Industrial Coatings in Spring House. He then moved to the commercial side of the business in the Philadelphia office. During his long career with the company, he held numerous positions, including Market Development Manager for Coatings, Research and Development Manager for the PRM Division, Group Market Manager and Business Team Director. In the 1980’s he served as President and CEO of two R&H joint ventures with Japanese firms, and retired at age 55 as the Director of Corporate Development. During his retirement, he served on the Board of Directors at Dunmore Corporation in Newtown, Pennsylvania. Tom also published two books: a novel and a business volume.

Tom was a regular attendee at the Philadelphia Orchestra and the Philly Pops, as well as a Philadelphia Eagles season ticket holder. He enjoyed great literature, and was a self-read student of American history. Tom was well-known for his bad puns and shaggy-dog stories, but above all, Tom was known as a man of unfailing integrity, who had regard for the dignity of every individual. He was seldom seen without his faithful dog Hank by his side.

In addition to Tom’s beloved wife Dorothy, who was his high school prom date and wife of 55 years, he is survived by his daughters Eileen (Ed) Pursley of Warminster, and Diane (Michael) McTigue of Holland, his five grandchildren, Alexander, Julia, Emily, Natalie and John, and his sisters Dorothea (Ralph) Tinari of Buckingham, Pennsylvania, and Barbara (John) Oriolt of Manahawkin, New Jersey.

Tom’s family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, December 17, 2012 from 9:00am until his Funeral Service 10:30 am at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home at 800 Newtown Richboro Road (at Holland Rd.) Richboro, PA 18954.

Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery, Roslyn.
