John P. “Jack” Fogarty of Holland, PA passed away peacefully at the Delaware Valley Veterans Home in Philadelphia on Friday, September 26, 2014, at the amazing age of 95, with his son Ron by his side.

He was the beloved husband of Anna Marie Marhoefer Fogarty. They were married just one day shy of 73 years.

Born in Mahanoy City, PA, he was the son of the late James and Sarah Foley Fogarty and brother of the late Edward, William and Lawrence Fogarty.

Mr. Fogarty was a resident of Holland since 2008 and formerly lived in the Mayfair section of Philadelphia for 60 years. John served his country here and overseas and was an honorably discharged veteran of World War II. He joined PSFS in 1946 as a Night Security Guard and moved up through positions of increasing responsibility in the Banking Department. John retired from PSFS in 1981, after 35 years of distinguished service as a Senior Vice President. During his tenure at PSFS, he furthered his education by attending Brown University in Rhode Island, the Wharton School, and Penn State Management Development courses. He was active in academic affairs at LaSalle College where he served on the council of president’s associates and was a member of the college publicity committee.

John loved the Lord and was a man of great faith. He was a faithful member of Men of Malvern and attended religious retreats at Malvern Retreat House for over 50 years, never missing a year. John touched the lives of many with his genuine kindness and now we are all blessed to have our own personal angel in heaven.

In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his five children, John P. Fogarty, Joyce A. Wasko (the late Leon), Ronald J. Fogarty, Andrea T. Cook and her husband, Richard, and Tina A. Ford and her husband, Richard. He is also survived by his two sisters, Margaret DiBella and Mary Handschuh, and was the fun, loving and singing Pop-Pop of 12 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

His family will receive friends on Friday, October 3, 2014, from 9:30 AM until his Funeral Mass 11:00 AM at St. Bede the Venerable Church, 1071 Holland Road, Holland, PA 18966.

Entombment will take place at Sunset Memorial Park, Feasterville.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his name may be made to Malvern Retreat House, 315 S. Warren Avenue, Malvern, PA 19355.
