Nicholas V. Saracino Sr. of Richboro, PA died peacefully on Friday, January 18, 2013, at his home surrounded by his family. He was 87.

Nick was the beloved husband of Harriet M. Saracino for 68 years.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Silvio and Anna (D’Aulerio) Saracino and brother of the late Michael and Anthony Saracino.

Nick was a resident of Richboro for the past 34 years. Nick attended Northeast Catholic High School for Boys in Philadelphia. Nick was a proud veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard having served during World War II. Before his retirement on December 31, 2012, he was the owner of Nicholas V. Saracino State Farm Insurance Agency located on Bustleton Avenue in Northeast Philadelphia for 53 years.Nick was a devoted Catholic and active parishioner of St. Bede the Venerable Church. He was a member of their Pastoral Council and Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, James F. Wood Assembly. In his leisure time, he was an avid fisherman who loved spending time on his boats, “Good Neighbor” and “Lady Harriet”. Nick’s family and friends affectionately referred to him as “the Captain”. He will be sadly missed as a devoted husband, father, grandfather ,great grandfather and uncle.

In addition to his beloved wife, Nick is survived by his seven children, Nicholas V. Saracino Jr. of North Wales, John A. Saracino and his wife, Jean, of Southampton, Elaine S. Cochrane and her husband, John, of Richboro, Joseph T. Saracino and his wife, Kathleen, of Holland, James M. Saracino and his wife, Dr. Barbara Saracino, of Richboro, Marianne S. Tarves and her husband, Richard, of Churcdhville, and Kathleen M. Weidner and her husband, Michael, of Jamison. He is also survived by his 19 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, his sister-in-law, Helen Saracino and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewings on Wednesday evening, January 23, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Road (at Holland Road) Richboro, PA 18954 and Thursday, January 24, at St. Bede the Venerable Church, 1071 Holland Road, Holland, PA from 10:00 AM until his Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM. Entombment will take place at Resurrection Cemetery, Bensalem.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Nick’s memory to St. Bede the Venerable Catholic Church at the above address.
