Herbert Kappenberger
Herbert Kappenberger of Holland, PA died Wednesday, January 23, 2013, at St. Mary Medical Center, Langhorne. He was 88.
He was the beloved husband of Irene R. Kappenberger for 62 years.
Born in Germany, he was the son of the late Hermann and Anna Melcher Kappenberger and brother of the late Othelia “Tillie” Smith.
Mr. Kappenberger was a resident of Holland since 1969. He graduated from Northeast Catholic High School for Boys in Philadelphia. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Battle of the Bulge, where he received a Purple Heart and Bronze Star. Following his active duty he remained active with the Army Reserves until retiring as a Master Sergeant. He had the natural ability to fix things ranging from automobiles to lawn mowers, to home repairs. He will be sadly missed as a loving husband and father.
In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his daughter, Lynn.
His funeral services and interment will be held privately at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Guardian of the National Cemetery, Newtown, PA 18940.
