Patricia P. Swart died on Wednesday, October 1, 2014, at her home in Ann’s Choice, Warminster, PA. She was 85 years young.

She was the beloved wife of the late Richard H. Swart Jr. with whom she celebrated nearly 55 years of marriage.

Born in Dobbs Ferry, New York in 1929, she was the daughter of the late Elliott and Dorothy Shipman Pettigrew. Raised in Hastings on the Hudson, NY, she was a 1950 graduate of Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY. She married in 1951 and devoted herself to her husband, family and home. Active throughout her life, she enjoyed many hobbies; golf, bridge, gardening, and traveling which also included the annual family reunion in Nags Head, North Carolina. Her children considered her Christmas cookies world famous.

For over 30 years she lived in York, PA, where she raised her 4 children. In 1989, after Richard retired, they moved to Hendersonville, NC, where she was able to take advantage of the wonderful climate and kitchen window view of the eastern side of the Smokey Mountains. She enjoyed her traveling golf group “The Grasshoppers” and christened par 5s as “forever holes”. She cherished the 15 years she had there, but relocated to Ann’s Choice Warminster, PA, shortly after her husband passed. Her kind and wonderful ways will long be remembered by those who knew her.

She is survived by her children Douglass and his wife, Gretchen of Chalfont, PA, William and his wife Mara of Kansas City, MO, Virginia Travers of Waldorf, MD, and Peter and his wife Sharon of Mason, NH. She is also survived by her 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Her family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, October 24, 2014 from 9:30am until her Funeral Service 11:00am at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 241 E. Butler Ave. (at Sandy Ridge Rd.), New Britain, PA 18901. Her interment will follow in Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown, PA.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Alzheimer's Association, Delaware Valley Chapter, 399 Market St., Suite 102, Philadelphia, PA 19106.
