Carolyn Martina Nisula of Yardley, PA died on Friday, January 25, 2013, at Aria Health-Bucks Campus just short of her 63rd. birthday having just returned from a Caribbean cruise with the Phillies.
She was the beloved wife of David J. Nisula for 28 years.
Born in Philadelphia, Carol was the only child of the late George and Emily Solecki Kretz.
Carol was a resident of Yardley for over 28 years. She led a full life marked by a strong independent will and a drive toward achievement. As a Computer Systems Analyst for Verizon/Bell Atlantic, she received the Corporate President’s Hallmark of Excellence Award from regional president Gilbert Wetzel. She was the first woman to be ever so honored. An inveterate cruiser in her leisure time, Carol had gone on some 25 cruises, virtually all with her husband and son. She also very much enjoyed visiting Caesar’s and the cruise ship’s casinos and had emerged as the family genealogical expert tracing lineage throughout Europe and Scandinavia even employing DNA methods.
In addition to her beloved husband, she is survived by her son, Jonathan Michael Nisula of Yardley, her four stepchildren, Kathleen Hogan and her husband, Sean, of Mullica Hill, NJ, James Nisula of Doylestown, PA, Joseph Nisula and his wife, Nancy of Upper Southampton, PA, and David Nisula Jr. and his wife, Mary Ann of Mullica Hill, NJ. She is also survived by her six step-grandchildren, Caitlin, Rachel, Kristen, Abigail, Megan and David J III, and her three cousins, Vincent Wolanin and his wife, Illona of Sanibel, FL, Gregory Wolanin of Loudonville, NY and Edward Solecki of Philadelphia, all of whom shared her childhood.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Saturday, February 2, 2013, from 10:00 AM until her Funeral Mass 11:00 AM at St. Ignatius of Antioch Church, 999 Reading Avenue, Yardley, PA 19067. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Mayo Clinic, 200 First Street S.W., Rochester, MN 55905.
