Robert H. Gabler of Holland and Warminster died Monday February 4, 2013 at Abington Memorial Hospital, Abington. He was 88.

Born in Chambersburg, PA., he was the cherished husband of the late Helen Davall Gabler. He graduated from Chambersburg High School in 1943.

Bob entered the US Navy in 1943 to serve during World War II and in 1944 was transferred to the US Marine Corp where he served as a medical corpsman in the Sixth Marine Division with which he maintained close ties all his life. After an integral role in the invasion of Okinawa, he was discharged and enrolled in what was then the State Teachers College of Shippensburg. Upon graduation he married Helen and became employed by Nationwide Insurance, the beginning of a career that spanned nearly forty years.

Bob enjoyed softball and playing the drums in his youth. He had an impeccable memory and was nearly unbeatable at Bridge and (sometimes) Poker.

Bob is survived by his three sons: Barry Gabler and his wife Susan, Richard Gabler and his wife Donna and Robert C. Gabler, Esq. He is also survived by his six grandchildren and one great grandson.

Relatives and friends are invited to call Saturday, March 16th from 10:00am, and to attend his Memorial Service and a celebration of his life at 11:00am at the North and Southampton Reformed Church, 1380 Bristol Rd. Churchville, PA 18966. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the North and Southampton Reformed Church Memorial Fund, 1380 Bristol Road, Churchville, PA 18966, where he was a member for over 50 years.
