John "Jack" Danchak, of Chalfont, died on Thursday, February 7, 2013. He was 12.
Born in Lansdale, he was the loving son of Brian and Martha Jane Roth Danchak of Chalfont.
Jack was a son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend to all who knew him. Jack had a sly smile and a quick wit, he enjoyed telling jokes, playing jokes and making people laugh. In fact, Jack was well known to offer a hand in greeting and then pull it back at the last minute with a smile. Jack had many, varied interests. He loved to sing and performed in every school performance that he could. His fun portrayal of LaFou, from Beauty and the Beast, delighted everyone in the audience. He served his classmates as a one-time student council representative. This “Jack of all trades” also played saxophone, basketball, baseball and soccer. He loved his school, his teachers and his friends there.
While Jack had many interests and talents, he was most passionate about ice hockey and Boy Scouting. Jack was a scout for six years and enjoyed the camaraderie of his friends, camping, and learning new “adventure” skills. Jack was always a “yes” for community service and was very proud to have achieved the rank of Tenderfoot along with many merit badges. On the ice, Jack was a fierce competitor and added passion and encouragement to his Ice Dogs and Lansdale Catholic teammates. Over the years, Jack played many positions, but his favorite was when he stood between the pipes for his team. As goalie for the Hatfield Ice Dogs Pee Wee B team, he led his team to the 2011-2012 DVHL Championship and reached the District Playoffs. He was very proud of all his sports teams and coaches.
Jack will be greatly missed by so many people as he touched so many lives.
In addition to his parents Jack is survived by his brothers Alexander, and Zachary and his sister Maggie, his maternal grandfather, George M. Roth Jr. of Warminster, his paternal grandmother Blanche Danchak of Dickson City, PA, his uncles John Danchak Jr. of Scott Twp., PA and Gregory Roth of Norristown, his aunts: Anna Marie Roth Packer of Perkasie, Margaret Stipa of Philadelphia, Mary Lee of Warrington and Melissa Dandrea of Irwin, PA. He was preceded in death by his cousins Anna and Myrl Packer, his maternal grandmother Margaret McKay Roth, his paternal grandfather, John Danchak and his aunt Catharine Riter. He is also survived by many cousins and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing Monday, February 11, 2013 from 6:30 - 9:00pm at St. Jude Church, 321 West Butler Ave., Chalfont, PA 18914 and his Funeral Mass on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at 1:30 pm. A private family interment will take place immediately following his mass in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Hilltown, PA.
