Priscilla A. “Pixie” Wierbowski, of Washington, NJ, passed away on Friday, February 15, 2013 at St. Peter’s University Hospital after a long illness. She was 65.
Pixie was the beloved wife of 38 years to John S. Wierbowski.
Born in Perth Amboy, NJ, she was the daughter of Elizabeth Pogany Pricz of Old Bridge and the late Joseph Pricz.
Pixie graduated in 1965 from Woodbridge Senior High School in Woodbridge, NJ. She continued her education at St. Peter’s General Hospital School of Nursing, where she earned her nursing degree in 1968 and fulfilled her dream of becoming a Registered Nurse. She moved to Philadelphia and was employed at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital for two years, until she secured a position closer to her hometown at St. Peter’s University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ. Pixie worked in the Emergency Room for a few years before settling in the Labor and Delivery Department. Shortly after moving back to New Jersey, Pixie met her husband on a blind date set up by mutual friends. They were married in 1974 and in a few years were settled in their home in Washington, where they have resided since. Pixie was happy to retire in 2011 after over 40 years of faithful service as a Registered Nurse at St. Peter’s.
She loved to travel, including trips to London, Alaska, Hawaii and the Caribbean, and enjoyed many visits to Disney World and to the 1,000 Islands in New York with her family. She loved shopping, visiting with her friends and family, decorating (especially for Christmas) and keeping house.
Although she had many interests and hobbies over the years, Pixie’s greatest love was her family. She worked hard to maintain her nursing career full time while taking care of her husband and daughter and being involved in her extended family’s lives. She was highly respected in her field was considered a great friend, teacher and leader by her fellow nurses. She will be remembered as a loving, unselfish, nurturing, hard worker who put others before herself always. She will be dearly missed.
In addition to her husband and mother, Pixie is survived by her daughter: Elizabeth A. Wierbowski of Doylestown, PA; her brother: Peter Pricz, husband of Teri of Edison, NJ; and many other loving and supportive family and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 from 6:00 pm — 8:00 pm and on Thursday, February 21, 2012 from 8:30 — 9:30 am at the Joseph A.
