Thomas A. Pesci Jr., of Newtown, PA died peacefully on Friday, February 22, 2013, at St. Mary Medical Center. He was 87.

He was the beloved husband of 65 years to Doris Meyfohrt Pesci.

Born 1925 in Raritan, NJ, he was the son of the late Thomas D. and Theresa Righetti Pesci and brother of the late Elizabeth Barchi, Rose Nicastro.

Tom was a resident of Pennswood Village for the past few years, having moved there from Doylestown and previously Newtown where he lived for over 30 years. He served in WWII and the Korean conflict as a naval officer and Chief Engineer of US Navy destroyer DD703.

A mechanical engineer with a degree from Stevens Institute, Tom had a gift for metal design and fabrication. With skill and determination Tom grew the business started by his father into a three generation tool and die firm, PDK of Philadelphia and then Warminster. He was instrumental in the introduction of tungsten carbide into first the floor tile, and then plastics industries.

Tom continued his work after selling PDK — with his final creation being a scale working model steam locomotive engine. He was always a creator, hard worker and supporter of his extended family.

In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his 5 children; Rev. Thomas A. Pesci S.J. of Scranton Jesuit Community, Susan M. DiRenzo and her husband Dr. Robert of Medford, NJ, James M. Pesci and his wife Dragica of Doylestown, David J. Pesci and his wife Elaine of Danville, PA, and Stephen T. Pesci of Portsmouth, NH. He is also survived by his 4 grandchildren Matthew, Jessica , Adam and Rebecca.

His family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, February, 27, 2013 from 10:30 am until his Funeral Mass, 11:00 am at the Olde Church of St. Andrew, 135 South Sycamore Ave, Newtown, PA 18940. A private family interment will follow at Doylestown Cemetery, Doylestown.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
