Eleanor M. Shannon of Washington Crossing, PA died Sunday, February 24, 2013 at Aria Health, Bucks Campus in Langhorne. She was 94.

Eleanor was the beloved wife of the late William Marron and the late John J. Shannon.

Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of James and Katharine L. Bennett Collins and the mother of the late John Shannon, and sister of the late Rev. James B. Collins, M.M. and Robert J. Collins.

Eleanor was a resident of Washington Crossing, PA having previously resided in Matawan, New Jersey for over 50 years.. She was a spiritual person in her devotion to Christ and attended Mass frequently as a former communicant of St. Joseph’s Church in Keyport, NJ. Eleanor was a member of the Catholic Daughters and Sixties Club and also donated her time with the Meals on Wheels Program in Matawan, NJ. She generously volunteered her time and concern for many years at Bayshore Hospital in Homdel. A woman of special and unique talents, Eleanor enjoyed baking lemon meringue and apple pies and often spent time writing letters and reading. She will be deeply missed by her family and by everyone that came to know her.

Eleanor is survived by her loving children and their spouses, James J. and Maryann Shannon of Yardley and Kathleen and Frank Licata of Washington Crossing. She is also survived by her six cherished grandchildren, Michael Licata and his wife Alexandra, Brian Licata and his wife Tara, Meghan Riggs and her husband Jeffery, and Kerry, Colleen and James Shannon and her special great grand daughter Emma.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing Friday, March 1st from 10:00am until her Funeral Mass 11:00am at the Church of St. Andrew, 81 Swamp Rd., Newtown, PA 18940.

Interment will follow at St. Denis Cemetery in Havertown, PA.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers, P.O. Box 304, Maryknoll, NY 10545-0304.
