James R. Stanell, of Feasterville, passed away on March 13, 2013, at Capital Health Medical Center, Hopewell. He was 85.

Jim will be lovingly missed by his wife of 60 years, Romayne Parks Stanell.

Jim was raised in Shenandoah, PA. After high school, Jim enlisted and proudly served our country during World War II in the U.S. Army, attaining the rank of Corporal. He then enrolled at the Pennsylvania State University, and graduated in 1952 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry. He used his education to secure a position as a chemist for Allied Chemical Corporation, from which he retired after 40 years of service.

Jim was a faithful communicant of Assumption B.V.M. Church for over 55 years.

In his free time, Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing and especially his daily walks with his wife in Tyler State Park. He was very proud of being Penn State Alumni, and was an avid Penn State Nittany Lions and Joe Paterno fan. Jim’s life was his family, and his greatest joy was spending time with his children and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.

In addition to his wife, Jim is survived by his children: Dr. Laurie Anne Stanell, wife of John T. Moore of Pipersville, James “Jay” Parks Stanell, fiancée of Diana Phinney of Erwinna, PA, and Dr. William Parks Stanell, husband of Karen A. Giller of New Hope; his sister: Phyllis Santicerma; and seven grandchildren: Kendall, T.J., James, Anthony, Catherine, Samuel and Benjamin.

Relatives and friends are invited to call from 9:30 to the time of his Memorial Mass at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at Assumption B.V.M. Church, 1900 Meadowbrook Road, Feasterville, PA 19053. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Assumption B.V.M. Church at the above address.
