Ruth Bullock (Richardson)
Ruth May Richardson Bullock, of Doylestown, PA passed away on Monday, March 25, 2013 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was 87 years of age.
She was the beloved wife of George C. Bullock for 64 wonderful years.
Ruth was born in West Orange, New Jersey. She is the daughter of the late Duncan and Katherine Gearie Richardson. She was predeceased by her two brothers, Douglas Richardson and Alfred Richardson and is survived by her sister Grace Roberts.
Ruth grew up in a lively family in West Orange, NJ. She attended Bucknell University, graduating in 1947 with a dual major in English and French, and was eager to speak the French language to anyone she happened to meet. She served as President of her college Sorority, Phi Beta Phi Sorority. She was elected to Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities due to academic excellence.
She raised her family in Yardley, PA where she resided for 32 years prior to moving to Doylestown in 1996. While in Yardley, she was a loving mother and homemaker, who readily volunteered in her community; and was recognized as volunteer of year by the Woodside School for the handicapped. She also supported the youth group of the Morrisville Presbyterian Church by helping with their Broadway-type theatrical plays to raise money for charity. She was a particularly talented seamstress and enjoyed sewing. She and her husband George loved to travel by motorhome, and did so extensively in the United States, as well as took many trips abroad to Europe. She had a deep appreciation for art and art history, especially her favorite painter, Monet.
In addition to her loving husband she is also survived by her children, Patricia B. Reed and her husband William of Carlisle, Mass, Dr. George A. Bullock and his wife Elizabeth of Jamison, PA, Dr. Bruce D. Bullock and his wife Elizabeth of Rutland, VT, Brian A. Bullock and his wife Renata of Doylestown, and her ten dear grandchildren.
Her services and interment will be held privately.
