Edith May White of Newtown died peacefully Easter Sunday, March 31, 2013, at her home surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 71.

She was the beloved wife of the late Gerald Alden White Sr. whom she shared 49 years of marriage.

Born in Stoopville (Newtown) she was the daughter of the late Chester A. and Stella Roberts Wright, and sister of the late Chester and Raymond Wright.

Edith was a life long resident of the Newtown area. She graduated from Council Rock in 1960 where she was the class Treasurer and then went on to receive her beautician’s license in 1961.

She lived on a farm in Wycombe and later moved into a small house in Penns Park. After marrying the love of her life, Edith moved back to Newtown and onto her husband’s family farm. She worked for many years helping her husband on the farm and with the family construction company. Edith was not one to stay inside and spent much of her time outdoors, working on her flower beds and taking care of her animals. She loved animals and flowers, and also enjoyed cooking, baking, cross stitching, knitting and crocheting.

Her family was the focus of her life and as her family expanded with grandchildren and great-grandchildren her focus turned to them as they were the center of her life. The love she shared with them will always be remembered and cherished.

She is survived by her loving and devoted children; Karen L. Florczak and her husband William of Newtown, Gerald A. White, Jr and his wife Dianna of Jamison, Debra M. White and her fiancee John Sands III of Warminster, Garrett A. White and his wife Jennifer of Langhorne. She is also survived by her sister Joyce Spencer, her brothers Clifford and Marvin Wright, her 10 wonderful grandchildren; Patricia, Candace, Melissa, Kelly, Jessica, Sarah, Kevin, Kristen, Rachel and Elizabeth, and her 2 great-grandchildren, Angelo and Braylon.

Edith’s family will receive condolences on Saturday, April 6, 2013, from 9:00 am until her funeral service 11:00 am at New Life Christian Church, 4 Freedom Drive Newtown, PA 18940, with the Rev. Dr. Norman J. Leve, officiating.

Interment will be in Wrightstown Friends Cemetery, Wrightstown.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Chandler Hall Hospice, 99 Barclay St. Newtown Pa 18940 or to New Life Christian Church at the aforementioned address.
