Charles Joseph Benz III of Southampton Estates died peacefully on Monday, April 15, 2013, at his residence. He was 72.

He was the beloved husband of the late Patricia C. Burrows Benz.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Charles J. II and Maria Leahy Benz.

Mr. Benz was a resident of Southampton for the past 6 years. He formerly lived in Holland. Before retiring in 1995, he was employed as an agent for the Internal Revenue Service in Philadelphia. He was a train enthusiast, especially of steam engine trains. Charles was a member of the National Railway Historical Society and was the founding member of the local chapter in Yardley. He enjoyed gardening and working on projects around his home. He also enjoyed photography.

He is survived by his three daughters, Diana Racher and her husband, Michael, Janet Lowe and her husband, Gregg, and Denise Benz. He is also survived by his brother, Edward Benz and one granddaughter, Jenna.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Friday, April 19, 2013, from 10:00 AM until his Funeral Mass 11:30 AM at St. Bede the Venerable Church, 1071 Holland Road, Holland, PA 18966.

Interment will take place at Resurrection Cemetery, Bensalem.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to A.C.T.S. Hospice of Southampton Estates, 238 Street Road, Southampton, PA 18966.
