Ray S. Knittle, Jr., of Churchville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at Spring Village at Floral Vale with his family by his side. He was 77.

He was the husband of 47years to Janet M. Luff Knittle.

Born in Pottsville, he was the son of the late Ray S., Sr. and Grace Yost Knittle.

Ray proudly served our country in the U.S. Army, being honorably discharged after 6 years of service. After returning home, he worked in construction for Lower Makefield Twp. Ray married Janet in 1967, and they bought their home in Churchville. He then worked for James D. Morrissey Inc. as a heavy equipment operator, retiring after 40 years of service.

Ray was a member of the International Union of Engineers Local 542. He was an avid fisherman, and was a longtime member of the Delaware Shad Association. In his free time he enjoyed gardening. Most of all, he was a lovingly husband, father and Pappy, and will be dearly missed.

In addition to his wife, Ray is survived by his sons: William Knittle, husband of Kelly A. and Scott Knittle, husband of Kelly L.; his sister: Barbara Nadzam, wife of Thomas; and four grandchildren: Courtney, Max, Shawn and Madalynn.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Monday, May 13, 2013 from 12:00 pm until his Funeral Service at 1:30 pm at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Rd. (at Holland Rd.) Richboro, PA 18954.

Interment will follow at Washington Crossing National Cemetery.
