Joelle Woodruff (Guillemot)
Joelle Guillemot Woodruff, age 53, passed away at Doylestown Hospital on Saturday, May 11, due to complications arising from pancreatic cancer. She died peacefully, in her sleep with her husband at her side.
Joelle Guillemot was born on Jan 25,1960 in Nice, France, the first child of Helene Guillemot and the late Claude Guillemot. She grew up in and around the seaside village of Antibes. At the age of 20 she went to work as a secretary at the Rohm and Haas Company's newly opened European Laboratories in nearby Valbonne/Sophia Antipolis, where she worked until 1995, ultimately becoming executive secretary to the site director. In 1996 she moved to the United States, and in 1997 married Robert Woodruff. They have lived in Jamison, PA and Doylestown, PA, and most recently purchased a house in Doylestown Borough intending to move there later this year.
Joelle was an enthusiastic cook and oenophile, an avid mushroom hunter who found and proudly poached girolles and sanguins from the public parks in Newtown, Jamison, and Buckingham, unencumbered by Americans' mushroom phobias; a lover of all sorts of organ foods, snails, fish eggs, frog legs, and other nonfood foods. She loved travel, and delighted in telling of her youthful ventures to East Africa as well as asserting that she would never ever return to a "pays chaud en voie de developpement". She learned to love the United States as well, and traveled extensively with Bob around the West, middle Atlantic, and New England States.
Joelle is survived by her son, Florian Touze, of Doylestown, her sister Audrey of Bois-le-Roi, France, her mother Helene of Antibes, France, and her husband, Bob, of Doylestown.
Joelle’s family will receive condolences on Thursday evening, May 16, 2013, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 241 East Butler Avenue (at Sandy Ridge Road), New Britain, PA 18901. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Joelle's honor to Pancreatic Cancer Research at the Kimmel Cancer Center, Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, 233 South 10th Street, Suite 312, Philadelphia, PA 19107.
