J Dale Moody of Buckingham, PA died peacefully on Sunday, June 2, 2013, at Buckingham Valley Nursing Home, Buckingham. He was 88.

He was the beloved husband of the late Dolores Moody who died in 2007.

Born in Maggie Valley, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Austin and Eva Jane Moody and brother of the late Austin Moody and Dick Moody.

Though raised on a farm in Woodstown, New Jersey, he returned many, many Septembers for large Moody family reunions in North Carolina. He never missed a reunion of his class at Woodstown High School. Dale served proudly in the US Navy during World War II. After the war he and his brothers all attended Rutgers University where Dale received his degree in agriculture. After completing college, he worked for the New Jersey Farm Bureau and then studied independently to earn an engineering license, spending much of his career with The Portland Cement Association and then founded his own small business, Planet Leasing.

Dale and his wife Dolores raised their family in Yardley where they shared an enthusiasm for bridge, travel and their many lifelong friends. Dale pursued everything he did with boundless energy, from researching and writing his family history to getting his pilot's license. He was a lifelong Phillies fan, attending many games with his father, his son, his nephews and his grandchildren. He loved politics and relished the long lunches when he and his buddies would gather to talk about the news of the day.

He is survived by his children, Laura Degenhart and her husband, Edward, of Averill Park, NY, Nancy Langer of Penns Park, PA and Scott Moody of Doylestown, PA. He is also survived by his five grandchildren, Brian Degenhart, Bethany Baum, and Garrett, Quinn and Reece Moody.

The family is ever grateful to the caring staff at Buckingham Valley Nursing Home where he resided for the last five years. He used to love the daily trivia games and his devoted daughter Nancy's daily visits.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Graveside Service with military honors on Saturday, June 8, 2013, at 11:00 AM in Newtown Cemetery, Washington Street, Newtown, PA 18940.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in his memory be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
