Edith Atkins, of Elkins Park, passed away on June 24, 2013 at her daughter’s home with her family by her side. She was 87.

Born in Upper Merion Twp., she was a daughter of the late Morton and Myrtle Keebler Dyer, mother of the late Linda Paulauskas, grandmother to the late Erik Shuttleworth, mother-in-law to the late Wallace Shuttleworth, and sister to the late Della Heisner.

She was the beloved wife of 30 years to the late Joseph J. Atkins.

Edith spent most of her life in Philadelphia. She briefly moved to Levittown for 4 years, and then moved to Elkins Park with her family. She was a homemaker that loved staying at home and raising her family. In 1972, she went to work at the Sears and Roebuck in Philadelphia as an office clerk. Edith was an avid Phillies fan, enjoyed watching golf and bowling, was excellent at crochet, and loved playing with the family dog, Bella. Most of all, Edith loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Edith is survived by her daughter: Edie Shuttleworth Durning, wife of Michael of Elkins Park; grandmother to Wally Shuttleworth, husband of Chrissy, Chris Shuttleworth, husband of Diane, Edie Scanlon, wife of Jerry, Lori Shuttleworth, Mike Paulauskas, husband of Emily, Sandy Galbally, wife of Chris; her great grandchildren: Patrick and Ashley; nephew and godson: Warner Heisner; good friend Pat Boyce; son in law Vince Paulauskas, brother: Morton Dyer, and will be missed by her beloved dog Bella.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing from 10:00 am until her Words of Remembrance Service at 12:00 pm on Thursday, June 27, 2013 at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home 800 Newtown-Richboro Rd.(at Holland Rd.), Richboro, PA 18954.

Interment to follow in Forest Hills Cemetery, Philadelphia.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the PSPCA, 350 E. Erie Ave. Philadelphia, PA 19134.
