Mary E. Kaess of Holland and Churchville died peacefully on Sunday June 30, 2013 at Twining Village Health Care in Holland. She was 95.
Born in Philadelphia, Mary was the beloved wife of the late Christian D. Kaess who died in 1994, and daughter of the late John and Eva Haffer Wahl and mother of the late John D. Kaess.
Mary raised her family in Northeast Philadelphia and later moved to Burlington, New Jersey. During her time in the Wissinoming section of Philadelphia, she was vey active as a Den mother in the Cub Scouts, the Ultra Active 327 Club and Scout family. Mary was also active with her Ladies club since High School and her Grand mom’s club.
Mary was ultimate care giver for 36 years she cared for her late husband who took ill in 1953, as well as her dear mother who died at the age of 98. While caring for her family, Mary received her GED and went on the become a licensed Practical Nurse and worked for various Physicians, providing physical therapy for their patients.
Mary was a full time care giver who was unselfish, well loved and caring daughter, wife, mother and grandmother and friend who will be sadly missed by all who came to know her.
Mary is survived by her children; Christian A. Kaess, Sr. and his wife Elaine, Miriam Durst, David Kaess and his wife Kim and her daughter-in-law Kathleen Kaess. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing Saturday July 6, 2013 from 10:00am until her Funeral Mass 11:00am in St. Bede the Venerable Church, 1071 Holland Rd., Holland, PA.
Interment will follow in Whitemarsh Memorial Park, Prospectville, PA.
In lieu of flowers contributions in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Del. Valley Chapter, 399 Market St. Suite 102, Phila, PA 19106.
