Thomas I. Haigh Jr. of Holland, PA died peacefully on Monday, July 8, at St. Mary Medical Center in Langhorne, PA. He was 76.
He was the beloved husband of 53 years to Adele(nee Chervenka) Haigh, and has been a resident of Holland for the past 49 years.
Born in Philadelphia, Thomas was the son of the late Thomas I., Sr. and Lillian M. Short Haigh.
Mr. Haigh was a 1954 graduate of Northeast High School and a 1968 graduate of Temple University with a Bachelors Degree in Physics. Thomas started his long and illustrious career with the Franklin Institute in 1957 and eventually became the Director of Physical Science. After years of successful research and numerous patents, Thomas accepted a position at Penn Emblem as the Director of Research and Development in 1977. Thomas retired in 1992, but could not stand still. He continued to do consulting for various firms in the area, and he also founded multiple small business ventures. Thomas has been awarded multiple times through out his career for the many achievements and U.S. Patents that his research culminated in. Besides his love for research and development, he also shared a love of golf, educating, and reading, but above all was the love and devotion he has shared with his family.
In addition to his wife Adele, Thomas is survived by his children and their spouses; Thomas I. Haigh and Cheri of Newtown, Timothy Haigh and Barbara of Chalfont, Lynne Mitchell and Thomas of Warminster, and Nancy Reiber and Michael of Warminster. He is also survived by his sister Nancy Burman and her husband George, and his ten grandchildren; Lilly, Jeffrey, Scott, Drew, Kimberly, Nicholas, Ryan, Sam, Holly, and Autumn.
Thomas’ family will receive friends on Monday, July 15 from 10:30am until the sharing of remembrances at 12:00PM in the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Rd. (at Holland Rd.) Richboro, PA 18954.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Bucks County SPCA, P.O. Box 277 Lahaska, PA 18931.
