Stephen J. Boccuzzi of Doylestown, PA died peacefully on Monday, July 22, 2013, at Doylestown Hospital surrounded by his family. He was 58 years old.

Stephen was the husband of Jayne Santora Boccuzzi for 34 years and father of Lori, Ann Marie, and Stephanie. He was the son of Ralph J. and Corinne Matteis Boccuzzi of Stamford, CT.

In addition to his beloved wife, daughters, and parents, he is survived by his brother, Bennett Boccuzzi and his wife, Judy, of Germantown, MD, and his two sisters, Rosemary Salvi and her husband, Anthony, of Fairfax, VA and Joanne Kulesh and her husband, David, of Gaithersburg, MD and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was the son-in-law of Margaret Santora of Doylestown, PA and the late Daniel Santora and brother-in-law of Dena Giorgi and her husband, Richard, of Port Chester, NY.

Stephen was a devoted family man, pushing all those he loved to be their best self. As a committed father and loyal husband, he took great joy in growing with his daughters. From dinners in the city, to tennis matches, to relaxing at the beach there was no place he would rather be than with his girls.

Stephen was born in Stamford, CT on June 4, 1955. A true first-born, Stephen led the way for his siblings as he worked hard at school, was active in sports, boy scouts, photography, church ministry, and community service. He attended Fairfield College Preparatory School where his passion for learning was born from the Jesuit ideals.
Stephen was a scholar through and through, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing science from Fairfield University, and a Master’s degree as a cardiovascular clinical specialist from Catholic University. He earned a Ph.D. in exercise physiology from the University of Maryland and an MBA from St. Joseph’s University.

Stephen was a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the American Heart Association, and held several adjunct faculty positions. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed journals and sat on the editorial review boards of several medical journals.

Stephen was passionate about his career. He most recently joined Otsuka in 2012 as Vice President, Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HE&OR) and Field Medical Strategy. Steve also spent time working for Medco Health, Sanofi-aventis, IMS Health, Aetna Health Information Solutions, and Merck. He began his career working in clinical research and in preventative and rehabilitative services at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences and the National Naval Medical Center, both in Bethesda, MD.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewings on Wednesday evening, July 24, 2013, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM and Thursday, July 25, 2013, from 9:00 AM until 10:15 AM at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 241 East Butler Avenue (at Sandy Ridge Road), New Britain, PA 18901 and to his Funeral Mass on Thursday 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 235 E. State Street, Doylestown, PA.

Interment will take place at St. John Neumann Cemetery, Chalfont.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made in Stephen’s name to Cristo Rey Philadelphia High School, so that other first generation college students may have the life changing Catholic prep education which inspired Steve to “set the world on fire.” Cristo Rey Philadelphia High School: 5218 N.
