Albert Wiley Jr., resident of Ann’s Choice in Warminster, died peacefully Thursday, August 8, 2013. He was 82.
Born in Philadelphia, he was the oldest son of the late Albert Sr. and Elizabeth Schmidt Wiley, step son of the late Blanche Wiley. He was the devoted husband of Barbara Cornell Wiley for 61 years, beloved father of Sandra Bracher and her husband Douglas of Downingtown PA, Beverly Ferrara of Orlando, FL and Karen Tomlinson and her husband James of Horsham, PA. Al was the proud grandfather of Claire Philips (Christopher), Robyn Blankenhagen (John), Jill Spern (Kevin) Blair Ferrara (Brian Hunter), Stephen Ferrara, Michael Seder (Stefanie Sulikowski) and Amy Seder and delighted great grandfather of Kyle Robert Philips. He is survived by his sisters, Dorothy Grygiel, Arlene Newman and Elizabeth Winslow, brothers, John Wiley and Paul Wiley and is preceded in death by his sister Eleanor Kerns and brother Wayne Wiley.
Al was a graduate of Hatboro Horsham High School, veteran of the US Army and served in the Korean War. He attended LaSalle University and St. Joseph’s University, receiving his associate’s degree in business and accounting.
Prior to moving to Ann’s Choice in 2004, Al and Barbara were 49 years residents of Churchville. Al founded Albert Wiley Jr. Public Accounting in Richboro in 1972, where he greatly cherished his work and client relationships for more than 40 years. Al enjoyed contributing to his church and community where he served as a 45 year member and former elder of Northampton Presbyterian Church in Holland, Al served 12 years as a Northampton Township supervisor, he was co-founder, member and past president of Northampton Township Business and Professional Association. He was also a Charter member of the Churchville Rotary Club, where he was a three time recipient of the Paul Harris Fellow award Officer and member of the Union Cemetery Board of Directors and a former member of the Board of Trustees of the Bucks County Community College, Newtown.
The move to Ann’s Choice sparked many new friendships and opportunities for Al and Barb. He served as member and past president of the Veteran’s Club and member and past Chairman of the Resident Advisory Council. He also enjoyed participation in many social activities, card clubs and his stock investment club. Al treasured the Ann’s Choice community, traveling, cruising and NASCAR races; however, his greatest love was spending time with his family.
Al’s family will receive condolences on Monday August 19, 2013 from 9:30am until his Funeral Service at 11:00 am in Northampton Presbyterian Church, 539 Buck Rd., Holland, PA 18966. Interment 1:30pm in Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Northampton Presbyterian Church, Capital Improvement Fund at the above address or Ann’s Choice Benevolent Care Fund, 20000 Ann’s Choice Way, Warminster, PA 18974.
