Richard Fick Purcell, of Marco Island, FL passed away peacefully on August 13, 2013. He was 89.

He was the beloved husband of 49 years to Judith Wyckoff Purcell.

Born in Washington DC, he was the son of the late Professor Richard Joseph and Clara Fick Purcell.

He served in the United States Army, Field Artillery, from 1943-1946 during WWII, from 1951-1952 during the Korean War, and then in the Reserves, retiring as Lieutenant Colonel in 1986. Richard obtained a BA at George Washington University, an MA at Columbia University, an LLB at Harvard Law School, and a Certificate from University Fribourg, Switzerland. He retired as General Counsel and Sr. Vice President of The Connell Company in Berkeley Heights, NJ.

He will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father and doting grandfather.

In addition to his loving wife, Richard is survived by his children: Richard Purcell of Langhorne, PA, Edward Purcell and his wife Allison of Ringoes, NJ, and Carolyn Reichenbach and her husband Charles of Newtown, PA; grandchildren: Madeline, Richard and Katherine Purcell and William, Elizabeth, Charles and Megan Reichenbach; and sister: Patricia Purcell Nutter, of Locust Grove, VA.

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing Tuesday, August 20, 2013, from 9:00 am until his Funeral Service at 10:00 am in the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Rd. (at Holland Rd.) Richboro, PA 18954.

Interment will follow at Washington Crossing National Cemetery.
