Clarice “Clare” Marie (Costigan) Doherty, 79, of Warrington PA lost her valiant fight against pancreatic cancer on August 28, 2013, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Beloved wife of the late Edward P. Doherty and loving mother of Susan A. Doherty-Funke (Tom), Edward Doherty (Lisa), the late Patrick E. Doherty (Liz) and Catherine Goodenough (Tim). Devoted grandmother to Elizabeth, Sarah, Brian, Allison, Alyssa, Amanda and Matthew.

Clarice was blessed by the many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends in her life. Though Clare was an only child, she embraced her sister-in-laws, Marie (Jones), Marie Doherty, Catherine and Janet along with her brother-in-laws, Joseph, John, Dan, Eugene and Fred.

Clare enjoyed the gift of an extended family and cherished the time she had growing up with her uncles Joseph, John and Francis along with her grandmother Susan, mother Catherine “Kitty” and close cousins Joan, Joyce and Janet.

Clare grew-up in West Philadelphia and attended Our Lady of the Rosary Church. She still maintained a close relationship with her childhood and CYO friends. When Clare married she moved to Southwest Philadelphia and became a member of The Most Blessed Sacrament Church and started raising her children in this close knit community. She counted among her closest friends Mrs. Jean Kerman and her family, Mr. & Mrs. Walsh and Mrs. Harrell. When her family moved to the Far Northeast section of Philadelphia she became of member of St. Anselm’s Church.

Clare was employed for 36 years at Holy Redeemer Hospital in the file room of the X-Ray Department. Clare loved to spend her time cooking, baking and quilting. She especially enjoyed spending her time with family and friends. She will be remembered fondly for her hard work, caring heart, irish potatoes and pizzelle cookies.

Clarice’s family will receive condolences on Thursday from 10am prior to her Mass of Christian Burial at 12pm in St. Robert’s Bellarmine Church, 856 Euclid Avenue, Warrington, PA 18976. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Conshohocken.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Get Your Rear In Gear Philadelphia, 200 Cemetery Road, Mount Laurel, NJ 08054 or to Holy Redeemer Hospice, 12265 Townsend Road, Philadelphia, PA 19154.
