Lorraine K. Coomber, of Southampton, passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at Hahnemann University Hospital with her family by her side. She was 86.
Born in Medfield, MA, she was a daughter of the late Arthur Leroy and Grace Maude Tibbets Knight.
Lorraine graduated from Boston University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Commercial Arts. She was a talented artist and worked briefly in fashion illustration. After the birth of her first child, Lorraine was content to stay at home and take care of her family. When her children were older, she took a position with the New Jersey Department of Civil Rights as a case manager, retiring after 20 years of service.
Lorraine was very involved at Davisville Church, participating as a greeter and in Bible Study, and was a member of her beloved group, the “Val Girls”. She loved to read, and was a formidable opponent in Scrabble and Words with Friends. She had the opportunity to travel extensively, visiting France, Australia, China, and Norway, which included cruises on the Danube and Yangtze rivers, as well as, mission trips to Greece, Russia, Costa Rica, and New Guinea.
Most of all, Lorraine was a caring and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister, and will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her children: Claudia DeForest of Langhorne, PA, Jared J. DeForest and his wife Sue Ann of Monroe, NJ, Marcy L. Morton and her husband Mack of Langhorne, PA, and Stephanie K. Broncano and her husband Fabian of Carrollton, TX; her brother: Robert W. Knight and his wife Connie of Charlton, MA; 12 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Lorraine was preceded in death by two sisters.
Relatives and friends are invited to a Memorial Service on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at 11:00 am at the Davisville Church, 325 Street Rd., Southampton, PA 18966. Interment will be private.
