William H. Castor, of Barefoot Bay, FL and Richboro died peacefully on Friday, September 20, 2013, at Doylestown Hospital, with his devoted family at his side.
He was 92.
He was the beloved husband of the late Elizabeth McCloy Castor who died in 2011.
Born in the Wissinoming section of Philadelphia, Mr. Castor was the son of the late William and Helen Peacock Castor and brother of the late Grace Meissner and Edward Castor.
Bill was a resident of Richboro for over 30 years before moving to Barefoot Bay, FL in 1984. Bill attended school in Philadelphia and after high school used his talents as a mechanic to work for his Father’s Sunoco Service Station.
Bill entered the United States Army in 1942 and served in the Pacific Theater of Operations as a Staff Sgt during World War II. Aside from his family, serving his country was Bill’s proudest accomplishment in life.
Embracing his Father’s entrepreneurial ways, Bill and his late brother went into business together as co-founders of CMC Builders. Later, Bill also went on to co-found CMC Heavy Equipment Rentals.
After retiring in 1983, Bill and his wife Betty thoroughly enjoyed traveling the world—from Alaska to Tahiti to Australia to Switzerland, where the Castor family history began. He also loved camping with his family and the Night Owls Camping Club. He enjoyed bowling, a good game of poker or pinochle, animals of all types and above all else, spending quality time with his family and friends.
Whether it was watching Disney movies with his granddaughters, teaching his grandsons how to fish, or even riding roller coasters into his late 70’s, Bill never passed on an opportunity to spend time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Bill was a true role model for his entire family and the kindness he shared with others will forever be remembered. He will be deeply missed by his devoted family and many friends.
Bill is survived by his dear children and their spouses Bill Castor and his wife Karen, Bob Castor and his wife Mary, Betsy Keppeler and her husband Mark, Helen Visconti and her husband Rocky, Katie Burger and her husband Tom, and his sister Eleanor Hunt. He is also survived by 15 beloved grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, his sister in law Frances Castor, and his many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Thursday September 26, 2013 from 9:00am until his Funeral Service 10:30am in the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home 800 Newtown-Richboro Rd. (at Holland Rd.) Richboro.
Interment with Military Honors will follow in Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown.
