Thomas F. Smith, of Holland, died suddenly on Monday, October 14, 2013 in Arkansas. He was 53.
Born in Philadelphia, he is the oldest son of Thomas N. and Edna M. Broomhead Smith.
Tommy was a resident of Holland and a member of Holy Name of Jesus Parish, Philadelphia. He was very athletic and played several sports but basketball was his forte, playing for the CYO at St. Bede’s. Tommy was a graduate of North Catholic High School, class of 1978. He continued his studies at Brandywine College where he also played basket ball and received his associate’s degree.
During Tommy’s professional career he worked for Corell Steel Co. for several years. At the time of his passing he was employed by Werner Enterprises of Allentown, PA.
Tommy enjoyed family vacations at the Jersey shore especially in Avalon, NJ, and always had time for quick game of darts. He will be sadly missed by his loving family and friends.
In addition to his parents Tommy is survived by his 2 brothers; Michael C. Smith and James G. Smith and his wife Karen, and his 2 sisters; Lisa Ann Bonner and her husband Joe, and Allison M. Kasten and her husband David. He is also survived by his 8 nieces and nephews; Joey, Danny, and Cassidy Ann Bonner, J. Ryan, Madison, and Noah Smith, and Lauryn and Andrew Kasten.
Tommy’s family will receive condolences on Sunday evening, October 20 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm in the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home 800 Newtown- Richboro Rd., (at Holland Rd.) Richboro and on Monday in St. Bede the Venerable Church 1071 Holland Rd. Holland from 10:00am until his Funeral Mass 11:00am.
Interment will follow at Our Lady of Grace Cemetery, Langhorne.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to St. Bede’s CYO Program or St. Bede’s Knights of Columbus, Council # 15478 c/o 1071 Holland Rd. Holland, PA 18966.
