Mary C. O’Donnell Mayberry, of Yardley, died peacefully on Sunday, October 27, 2013 at Temple University Hospital, Philadelphia. She was 65.
Mary was the beloved wife of over 40 years to Ronald J. Mayberry.
Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of Mary Lynch O’Donnell and the late John O’Donnell.
Mary was a former resident of Fox Chase and Churchville, and had resided in Yardley for the last 29 years. She was a 1966 graduate of Gwynedd Mercy Academy. After high school, Mary was a missionary for one year in Guyana, South America. After returning home, she pursued her Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education, graduating in 1972 from Holy Family University. She began teaching third grade at St. Cecelia School in Philadelphia. Mary was married in 1972, and continued teaching until her first son was born. She then focused on caring and raising her family. Mary truly enjoyed being a mother and the activities that came with it, from taking them to practice and participating in school activities. Once her children were grown, Mary went back to school and earned her Master’s in Special Education from Holy Family University, and later moved on to becoming a Special Education English teacher for 11th and 12th grade at Pennsbury High School. In earlier years, she had enjoyed tennis. Mary was a quiet, family oriented woman, and she was a loving wife, daughter, mother and sister, and will be forever missed.
In addition to her husband Ron, Mary is survived by her sons; Brian J. Mayberry and his wife Julia of Philadelphia, and Kevin S. Mayberry of Philadelphia. She is also survived by her brothers John O’Donnell (Elizabeth) and Patrick O’Donnell (Maureen) as well as her mother, Mary O’Donnell.
