John F. Scannapieco of Boynton Beach, FL died peacefully on Wednesday, October 30, 2013, at University of Pennsylvania Hospital, Philadelphia, PA. He was 73.
He was the beloved husband of Rochelle F. Carro Scannapieco for 51 years.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Frank A. and Mary C. Parente Scannapieco.
Mr. Scannapieco was a resident of Boynton Beach, FL for the past 13 years. He formerly lived in Holland and Richboro for many years. John graduated from St. Joseph University with his Bachelor degree in Engineering, Class of 1962 and went on to receive his Master’s degree at Temple University in 1968. As a 38 year employee of General Electric and Lockheed Martin, John’s contributions helped advance and support our country’s space and defense programs. He was an active member of the community and held positions with several organizations including President of General Electric Elfun, president of graduate students at the University of Pennsylvania while pursuing his doctorate, past Grand Knight of Hennessey Council , navigator of the Nativity chapter, and a member of St. Bede the Venerable Pastoral Board. He will be deeply missed as a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother.
In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his four daughters, Mary Ellen Acord and her husband, Anthony, of Manasas, VA, Regina Jusczak and her husband, Thomas, of Yardley, PA, Deborah Matlack and her husband, David, of Levittown, PA and Michelle Scannapieco, M.D. and her husband, Brian Williams, of New Hope, PA. He is also survived by his brother Edward Scannapieco and his wife, Mary Ellen, of Philadelphia, PA, his sister, Genevieve Sigel and her husband, George, of Stockton, NJ and his 10 loving grandchildren, Nicole and Amanda Acord, Kimberly, Karen and Mark Jusczak, Alexandra and Olivia Matlack, Josephine, Chase and Payton Williams.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Tuesday, November 5, 2013, from 9:00 AM until his Funeral Mass 10:30 AM at St. Bede the Venerable Church, 1071 Holland Road, Holland, PA 18966.
Entombment will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Cheltenham, PA.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to St. Bede the Venerable Memorial Fund at the above address.
