Angela S. Balbi of Hilltown died suddenly Friday, November 1, 2013 at Grandview Hospital, Sellersville.

She was the beloved wife of 56 years to the late Felice A. Balbi.

Born in Casoli, Italy, Angela was the daughter of the late Giuseppina Scala and Nicola Verratti, and was preceded in death by her siblings, Mose Verratti, Alfieri Verratti, Antonio Verratti and Nicoletta Coccozza.

Angela was a former resident of Abington before moving to Hilltown in 1995. Angela and her husband Felice moved to this country in December of 1963 with four children, one on the way, a suitcase and a dream for a better and prosperous life. Angela would have celebrated 50 years of being here with her children in New York this December. She was one day short of her 84th birthday. She was the driving force in the success of her family, making sure to arm her children with the tools they needed to be successful in their lives.

Angela was a seamstress by trade, but those who knew her will remember that she enjoyed cooking delicious meals for her family and for every occasion. She always had a pot of sauce cooking on the stove and anyone entering her house was immediately fed a bowl of spaghetti and meatballs. She loved gathering all of her family together, made every Holiday special and kept every single Italian tradition. Angela enjoyed visiting her home at the New Jersey shore and in particular enjoyed strolling the boardwalk, playing the games and listening to the various bands with her husband. She will be missed by everyone especially her grandchildren who loved to visit Mom Mom’s house and would also be immediately served her famous bowl of soup.

Angela is survived by her dearest children and their spouses, Frank P. and Catherine Balbi of Warrington, Anne M. and Henry Dobbs of Montgomery Township, Rita A. and Dennis Gallo of Hilltown, Nicholas M. and Pamela Balbi of Zionsville and Joseph I and Michelle Balbi of Orefield. She is also survived by her 12 cherished grandchildren, Angela, Stephen, Christina, Keith, Carolyn, Jacqueline, Kimberly, Tiffany, Chadd, Mario, Christopher and Jennifer and her 9 great grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewings, Wednesday evening November 6th from 7-9 pm from the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 241 East Butler Ave. (Sandy Ridge Rd.) New Britain, PA 18901 and on Thursday November 7th, from 9:30-10:15am at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, Route 152 and Broad St. Hilltown, PA 18927 and to her Funeral Mass 10:30am. Interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Cheltenham.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Angela’s memory may be made in to the charity or cause of ones choice.
