Douglas Perry
Douglas J. Perry, of Souderton, PA died on Sunday, December 15, 2013, at his home with his family by his side. He was 73.
He was the beloved husband of 47 years to Kathleen Haurylko Perry.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Douglas R. and Theresa Sergio Perry.
Doug received his barber’s license in 1966 and for many years worked for other barber shops before establishing “Doug’s Barber Shop” in Chalfont Borough in 1989. Through the years, Doug’s Barber Shop established itself as an iconic landmark in the community, where generations of young men received their first haircut, a right of passage that many fathers have passed on to their sons. Local little league and intramural soccer teams have sported “Doug’s Barber Shop” on the back of their jerseys, displaying Doug’s commitment to the youth of his community.
Doug was always able to make people smile. His sense of humor, endless sarcasm and presence in the shop will be deeply missed by many, especially those he worked with everyday.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son Douglas J. Perry Jr. and his wife Linda, and daughter Melissa Perry Sirianni and her companion Michael Testa, his brother Paul Perry and his sisters, Frances McKnight and Mary Hartman. He is also survived by his 5 grandchildren; Amanda, Jennifer, Felicia, Joe, and Diana and Michael Testa's son Rory.
Doug’s Funeral services and interment will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory should be made to the St. Baldrick's Foundation, 1333 South Mayflower Avenue, Suite 400, Monrovia, CA 91016 or online at www.stbaldricks.org.
