Dennis Michael O’Brien of Southampton, PA died on Wednesday, December 25, 2013, at Abington Memorial Hospital, Abington. He was 62.

He was the beloved husband of Toni L. Eckle O’Brien for 6 wonderful years.

Born in Meadowbrook, PA, he was the son of the late Patrick and Louise Higgs O’Brien.

Denny was a gregarious and fun-loving husband, father and friend who somehow always became the life of the party. He was a 15 year resident of Lower Southampton and active member of the community which included serving for four years as a supervisor.

He was an extremely talented golfer and proud member of Huntingdon Valley Country Club for over 30 years. Dennis also enjoyed his last four years of golf and friendship of his second club, Spring Mill Country Club. He played regular GAP and Regional amateur tournaments for decades. Dennis was especially proud of his 2010 campaign which saw the Senior Club Championship at both clubs.

His outgoing personality, talents on the golf course and love for his family will long be remembered by those who knew him.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Dennis S. O’Brien and his wife Allison of Telford, PA and Brett R. O’Brien and his wife, Judy of Newtown, PA; his step-children Ryan Geiges and his wife Erin of Missoula, MT, and Cindy Geiges of Missoula, MT.

He is also survived by his five dear grandchildren; Kylie, Olivia, Indy, Laynie, and Wesley. Dennis was preceded in death by his first wife, Denise.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather on Monday, December 30, 2013 at 10:00 am at Spring Mill Country Club, 80 Jacksonville Road, Ivyland, PA 18974. A time of sharing will begin at 10:45 am with lunch to follow. His interment will be private.

Dennis was a true celebrant of life. He loved it and lived it fully. He didn’t enjoy the action from afar; he reveled in it from the center. He is one who will be truly missed by those who shared some part of his journey.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the J. Wood Platt Caddie Scholarship, 1974 Sproul Road, Suite 400, Broomall, PA 19008.
