Edward F. Smigelski of Philadelphia, PA died peacefully on Thursday, January 2, 2014, at Chandler Hall Hospice, Newtown, PA. He was 53.
Born and raised in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of Edward M. and the late Joan Fulton Smigelski.
Ed was a resident of the Somerton section of Philadelphia for the past 11 years. He graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School, Class of 1978. Ed was a proud veteran having served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was employed as a tractor trailer operator with YRC Freight for 18 years.
In his leisure time, he was an avid fan of all the Philadelphia sports teams and always enjoyed Penn State football games.
In addition to his father, he is survived by his two brothers, Michael J. Smigelski and his wife, Linda, of Holland, PA, Timothy Smigelski and his wife, Ria Tice, of Philadelphia, PA, and his two sisters, Donna M. Birkholz of Philadelphia, PA and Amy L. Corselius and her husband, Douglas, of Bel Air, MD. He is also survived by two nieces, four nephews, two great nieces and one great nephew.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, January 8, 2014, from 12:00 PM until his Funeral Service 1:00 PM at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Road (at Holland Road), Richboro, PA 18954.
Interment will military honors will take place at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown, PA.
