Our Superman, Nicholas Daniel Schanz, a resident of Richboro passed away at his residence at the young age of 22 after a 3 year battle with cancer surrounded by his loving family on Friday, January 3, 2014.

Nicholas was born on June 21, 1991 at Nazareth Hospital in Philadelphia. Nick was always quick with a smile and laugh. He had a generous heart and was always willing to help or lend a hand. He was the youngest and much loved son of Jerry and Molly Schanz (nee Siravo).

Nick was a graduate of Council Rock North, Class of 2009 and was a student at West Chester University studying to be a Physical Education and Health Teacher. He had always been active with any number of sports and physical activities with his friends and family. While he played baseball, basketball and football, he also had a passion for the Philadelphia Flyers Hockey Team. Nick’s dream of meeting the Flyers team came true in December. He loved to be outdoors and enjoyed the simple things like most kids his age. He loved music, especially BLINK, Bob and DMB and was soft hearted for almost any furry face, especially his older brother’s pit bulls.

In addition to his parents, Nick is survived by his sister, Danielle Knox and her husband Brian, his brother, Jerry Schanz and his wife Kate, his beloved nephew Mason, his grandmothers, Rosa Siravo and Catherine Schanz as well as many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and countless friends.

Nick’s family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 8th, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and on Thursday, January 9th, from 9:00 to 9:45 AM at St. Vincent De Paul Church, 654 Hatboro Rd., (at Tanyard Rd) Richboro, PA 18954. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM.

Interment will take place at Resurrection Cemetery, Bensalem.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to American Cancer Society Hope Lodge Jerome L. Greene Family Center, 132 West 32nd. Street, New York, NY 10001 to benefit other cancer patients and their families.
