James (Jim) Mallon, of Chalfont, PA died March 28, 2019 at ManorCare of Montgomeryville. He was 88 years old.
He was the beloved husband of the late Joan Littley Mallon. They both enjoyed their marriage of 50 years.
Born in Philadelphia, James was the son of the late Leo and Mae Folz Mallon. However, it was his mother and step-father Jim Hone who raised him from a young age.
Jim cherished the many happy years spent with Joan raising their children, Lynne and Jamie. In ‘77 they purchased a home at the Jersey shore and it quickly became a family favorite. Maximizing time spent on LBI became a priority. Jim enjoyed golfing. He frequented local courses and occasionally made trips to Myrtle Beach. His life got even better once grandchildren and great grandchildren arrived. For decades the extended family enjoyed Sunday dinners together. An outgoing guy, Jim could befriend anyone he started a conversation with. He genuinely enjoyed the company of others.
When he was younger Jim enlisted in the United States Navy and served as a “yellow jacket” on the flight deck of the USS Wasp for 3 years. After Joan passed, Jim renewed his interest in the Wasp by attending the ships annual reunions. He always revered his Navy life and admitted the experience positively influenced his entire life.
Jim will always be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his daughter and son-in-law, Lynne and John McPherson and his son and daughter-in-law, Jamie and Beth Mallon; his grandchildren, Melissa White and her husband, Ian, Kimberly McPherson, Dan Mallon, Patrick Mallon, Ryan Mallon and Emily Mallon; and his great grandchildren, Ethan and Natalie White.
Relatives and friends are invited to greet his family on Saturday, April 6, 2019 from 11:00am, until the start of his Funeral Mass, 12:00pm at St. Jude Catholic Church, 321 W. Butler Avenue in Chalfont, PA 18914. His interment at Washington Crossing National Cemetery will take place privately.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in James’ memory may be made to St Jude Church.
