Joseph R. “Buck” Smolenski of Meadowbrook passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 28, 2019 with his family by his side at his home in St. Joseph’s Manor. He was 88.
Buck was the loving husband of the late Patricia F. O’Kane Smolenski who passed away in 1985.
Born in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late Boleslaw J. and Sophie A. Misko Smolenski.
Buck graduated from Frankford High School and during his high school years played football for the Bridesburg Eagles. He served proudly as part of the 45th division in the United States Army during the Korean War and would later lead a long career in sales for General Electric.
Buck went on to retire in Ocean City, MD where he treasured his days spent near the ocean and participating in the Polish American Club and playing shuffleboard. Buck also enjoyed travelling and was proud to have met Pope John Paul, II during one of his trips. He was devoted to his family and will be missed as a loving father, grandfather, and uncle.
Buck is survived by his daughter, Kathy Feldman of Feasterville and his grandson, Jason Feldman. In addition to his wife and his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Ann Pierson (the late Al) and Dolores Brennan (the late Bruce).
Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family on Saturday, April 6, 2019 from 9:30 AM until his Memorial Service 10:30 AM in the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Rd., Richboro, PA 18954. His interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Bensalem.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society at 1616 Locust St., Philadelphia, PA 19103.
