With a heart full of love and humor, Eugene Martin Jacobs, of Newtown, died peacefully, surrounded by his family on Wednesday, March 13, 2019. He was 84 years old.

Gene was the beloved husband of Phyllis (Prete) Jacobs for 57 years.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, Gene was the youngest child of the late Willard and Hannah McFadden Jacobs. He enjoyed spending his summers on his family’s farm in Boyertown, Pa. In his early years, Gene doted on his chickens. He was often spotted taking the entire flock for a walk down the street. His love of animals, especially dogs, continued to grow through the years.

At Frankford High School, Gene excelled in athletics. He played baseball and “lettered” in basketball and football. Even while serving in the US Army, he found time to play various sports with his fellow soldiers. Not wanting to miss an opportunity to participate in a game, Gene always kept the trunk of his car stocked with sports equipment. Wearing only a slipper, Gene limped down the aisle the day he married the love of his life, due to an injury he sustained on the football field that morning. Later in life, Gene could be found crushing his serve on the tennis court or cheering for his favorite Philadelphia teams, whether from the stands or his favorite recliner.

In 1968, Gene became the founder and president of Graphic Data, a printing company he and his partners grew for over 45 years. During this time, he graduated from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business. Gene was a founding member of the Irish Society and a

Democratic candidate for the 175th District for the Pennsylvania State House.

Of all of his accomplishments, this extraordinary man was most proud of his family who will miss his kindness, sense of humor, and beautiful blue eyes.

In addition to his wife, Phyllis, Gene is survived by his loving daughters, Karen Jacobs, Holly Jacobs and Ellyn and Ray McLaughlin; his grandsons, Jake McLaughlin; Scott and Sean Hakim, and their father, Toufic Hakim.

Family and friends are invited to greet the family on Saturday, March 16, 2019, from 2:30pm until the start of Eugene’s Funeral Tribute at 4:00pm at the Joseph A. Fluehr, III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Rd. (at Holland Rd.) Richboro, PA 18954. His interment will take place privately.

In lieu of flowers, and to honor Gene’s generous heart, please either consider doing an act of kindness for someone else, or making a charitable donation to the Alzheimer’s Association, Delaware Valley Chapter, 399 Market Street; Suite 102 in Philadelphia, PA 19106.
