Rita T. Coates of Langhorne died peacefully Sunday, March 10, 2019 at her residence. She was 95.

Rita was the beloved wife of the late Joseph J. Coates Sr.

Born in Atlantic City, NJ, she was the daughter of the late George and Marguerite Louise O’Connor Smith and the sister of the late George Smith Jr and Margaret Smith McCarson.

Rita was a former resident of Philadelphia before moving to the Villas, NJ where she resided for over 30 years before moving to Langhorne. She will be remembered as a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother who always found the time to support her family’s activities and their endeavors. Her greatest joy was to be in the presence of her family. Rita also enjoyed playing bingo and cards with her friends from Heathergate. She will be truly missed by her family and by all who came to know and love her.

Rita is survived by her 5 sons; Joseph J. Coates Jr. and his wife Kathy of Langhorne, John J. Coates and his wife Ellen of Langhorne, Thomas J. Coates of Warrington, William J. Coates and his wife Mary Pat of Richboro and Robert J. Coates and his wife Maureen of Southampton. She is also survived by her brother John Smith of Ventnor, NJ and her sister Dorothy Smith Walsh of Linwood, NJ, 15 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing from 9:30 am until her Funeral Mass at 11:00 am on Thursday March 14, 2019 at St. Timothy Church, 3001 Levick St., Philadelphia, PA 19149. Rita’s interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Bensalem.
