William L. Kern Jr. of Southampton died on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at Southampton Estates.  He was 89.

He was the beloved husband of the late Lois J. (Weizsacker) Kern with whom he had shared 65 years of marriage until her death in 2017.

Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late William and Hazel (Preiss) Kern, father of the late Nancy L. Andersen.

He was a member at North and Southampton Reformed Church since 1963. Dad’s faith, love for God, and love for others was prominent throughout his life. His favorite verse was Psalm 23:4. Dad served our country in the Korean War and received a silver star for his heroic service. Bill attended Dobbins Vocational-Technical School and went on to earn his Bachelor’s Degree from Drexel University. He began and ended his career at Morris, Wheeler & Co. where he worked his way up to the role of President before his retirement in 1984. Bill moved to Holland, Pa. in 1961. He was a member of Old York Road Country Club for 45 years. Bill loved to golf, travel, and play cards. He was an avid Phillies fan since he was a young boy. He loved to meet people and enjoyed telling stories and corny jokes.  Bill enjoyed spending time at his vacation home at Lake Wallenpaupack and enjoyed spending time in Florida in the winter months.  He also enjoyed the Greenbrier in West Virginia. Dad was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.  Most of all dad loved spending time with his family especially his six grandchildren. They were his pride and joy.

Surviving are his sons, Donald A. Kern and his wife Cyndi of New Hope PA, David W. Kern and his wife Cindy of Tafton PA, his son in law Joseph Andersen and his wife Debbie of Alton NH, his brother Richard Kern and his wife Maryann of Souderton PA, his nephews; Richard Kern and his wife Diane, James Kern and his wife Beth, his niece Donna McElhattan and her husband Rick, and his 8 great-nieces and nephews.  He is also survived by six grandchildren William L. Kern II and his fiancée Kristina Hadam, Kristin L. Schaller and her husband Kevin, Eric Andersen, Brian Andersen and his wife Amanda, Aimee Wentzell and her husband Jeff, Danylle Freeman and her husband James and 5 great-grandchildren; Jeffrey, Jaxson, James, Jayden, and Emma with another great-grandchild expected soon.

The bible tells us in Rev 21:4 that there will be no more tears, and death shall be no more. Come celebrate Dad’s life.

Relatives and friends may greet the family on Saturday April 6, 2019 from 11:30 AM until his Memorial Service at 12:30 PM at the North & Southampton Reformed Church, 1380 Bristol Road, Churchville, PA 18966.  His interment will be held privately.
