Michelle G. Smyser of Lahaska, PA died on Saturday, October 25, 2014, at Doylestown Hospital. She was 61.

She was the beloved wife of Herbert A. Smyser for 38 years.

Born in Weymouth, MA, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Rita Theriault Garbarczuk.

Mrs. Smyser was a resident of Lahaska for the past 39 years. She was a graduate of North Carolina State University, Class of 1974, where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation and Park Administration. Michelle volunteered her services to the Bucks County Parks & Recreation Board for 25 years before joining the department in 2010 as the Superintendent of Recreation Program Services. In her leisure time, she enjoyed gardening and loved all types of horses. She was a rugby enthusiast who always enjoyed supporting the sport as a family activity.

She will be sadly missed as a devoted wife, mother and sister. In addition to her beloved husband, she is survived by her daughter, Jessica L. Smyser of Connecticut and her three sisters, Susanne Battikha of Massachusetts, Stephanie Garbarczuk of Maryland, and Leslie Garbarczuk of Massachusetts.

Funeral services and interment will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Bucks County SPCA or to the NC State Natural Resources Foundation, Inc., c/o Development and External Relations Offices at North Carolina State Campus Box 8010, Raleigh, NC 27695.
