Thomas J. Dunphy, Jr. SRA, of Holland died peacefully, surrounded by his family on Thursday, October 25, 2018, after a courageous battle with lung cancer at Chandler Hall Hospice, Newtown. He was 73.
Born in Philadelphia, Tom was the beloved husband of 50 years to Kathleen E. Garrahan Dunphy, son of the late Thomas J. Sr., and Dorothy Conn Dunphy and grandfather of the late Doveo Chevere.
Tom was a proud graduate of Father Judge High School, class of 1963 and received his Bachelors Degree in Business from LaSalle University in 1967. Tom followed in his Dad’s footsteps and joined "Tom Dunphy Sells Real Estate" that was established in 1958 in Northeast Philadelphia and also in Feasterville. Tom was a recognized Real Estate broker and Appraiser since 1968. His professionalism and thorough work ethic were his trade mark.
Tom was a fun loving husband and father, he always had a smile. He was very proud of his Irish heritage and had a great sense of humor. He enjoyed cooking, especially for family and friends. Sea Isle City in New Jersey was a place where he loved to have fun on the beaches with his children and grandchildren. Tom loved Neal Diamond music and enjoyed dancing.
Tom and his family have been residents of Holland for 45 years and communicants of St. Bede the Venerable Parish. Tom volunteered for St. Bede’s CYO, coached basketball, and sponsored many sports teams. Tom served as chair person for the Eucharistic Congress in 1976. After participating in Marriage Encounter, Tom and his wife Kathy went on to become a team couple helping others grow in their marriage. Tom and Kathy served as CCD catechists as well.
In addition to his beloved wife, He is survived by his dear children and their spouses Janine Chevere and her husband Wilfredo, Thomas J. Dunphy III, Danielle Reckner and her husband Drew and Dominique Dunphy, his brother Michael B. Dunphy, Jr. and his wife Janet, his 2 sisters and their husbands, Dottie Anne Sexton and her husband Frank, Maripat Huhn and her husband Joe. He is also the devoted grandfather of: Anteo, Emile, Omero, Paloma, Fiona, Finnegan, Oceano and Kellen.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewings on Thursday evening from 6:00pm to 8:00pm and on Friday from 8:45 am to 9:45 am at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home 800 Newtown-Richboro Rd. (at Holland Rd.) Richboro and to his concelebrated Funeral Mass 10:30 am at St. Bede the Venerable Church 1071 Holland Rd. Holland. Interment will be private in Our Lady of Grace Cemetery, Langhorne.
In lieu of flowers contributions in his memory may be made to Libertae, 5245 Bensalem Blvd. Bensalem, PA 19020.
