Edward J. Gallagher passed away peacefully on Tuesday October 23, 2018 at Buckingham Valley Rehab and Nursing Center. He was 85.
He was the beloved husband of Regina M. Keifer Gallagher for 65 years.
Born in 1933, in the Tacony section of Philadelphia, he was the son of the late William and Hannah Murphy Gallagher and one of eight children.
He attended St. Leo’s Grade School and Northeast Catholic High School. He worked full time at a local tannery while in high school to help support his family. He met Regina Keifer on a double date in 1952 and they married in 1953. They both took jobs at a Betz Laboratories and commuted to work together for most of their lives. Ed progressed from entry level stock help to retire as a division purchasing manager. His motto was “a job is what you make of it”. In 1967 Ed and Regina moved out of their Tacony row home to their ‘dream house’ in Bucks County where they remained to the present.
At the time of his passing, Ed had 4 children, 16 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and 2 step-great grandchildren who were all the joy of his life. Ed was an avid Eagles and Flyers fan, loved to work with wood and made many toy boxes, picnic tables, book shelves, treasure chests and much more for all his many children and grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Edward is survived by his loving children; Edward W. Gallagher and his wife Mary Ann, Susan Cassidy-Ray and her husband Thomas, Robert Gallagher and his wife Kathy, and Michael Gallagher and his wife Joan.
Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family on Monday, October 29, 2018 from 11:00am until his Funeral Mass 12:00pm at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 654 Hatboro Rd., Richboro, PA 18954.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Edward’s name may be made to Alzheimer's Disease Association, 399 Market Street, Suite 102, Philadelphia, PA 19106.
