Aloysius J. Dowd, III of Ridley Park, PA died peacefully on Tuesday February 4, 2014 in North East, Maryland at the home of his dear friend and companion. He was 60.
Born in Philadelphia, he was the devoted son of Rosemary A. Burns Dowd and the late Aloysius J. Dowd, Jr.
Al was a graduate of Bishop Egan High School, class of 1971. Al has been employed for over 30 years at Amtrak. He started his professional career as an automotive engineer and worked his way thru the ranks to Fleet Officer.
A man of many talents, Al truly enjoyed attending auctions of any kind and was an avid flea marketer. He will be remembered for his quit wit and sincere smile.
In addition to his mother he is survived by his son, Alexander J. Dowd and his fiancée Lindsay Adams, his sister and brothers, Maria A. Mazza, Jack Dowd and his wife Kathy and Edward Dowd and his wife Diane. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and his dear friend and companion Pam Johnson.
Relatives, friends and Amtrak employees are invited to attend his viewings Monday evening from 6:00-9:00pm and Tuesday morning from 8:30-9:15am in Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home 800 Newtown-Richboro Rd. (at Holland Rd.) Richboro and to his Funeral Mass 10:00am in the Church of St. Andrew 81 Swamp Rd. Newtown.
Interment S.S. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.
In lieu of flowers contributions in his memory may be made to Abramson Cancer Center 3400 Civic Center Blvd. Phila. PA 19104.
