It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Robert H. Smith Jr. on Monday, August 27, 2018.  Bob was a 30 year resident of Lansdale having grown up in the Doylestown area.  He was 65.

Born on November 20, 1952, he was the son of the late Robert and Barbara (Leatherman) Smith.   Bob was the beloved husband of 32 years to Laura Packard Smith and proud father of Robyn Smith, of Takoma Park, MD.

Bob was an accomplished tool and die maker, having completed his apprenticeship very early in his career. He worked with several companies in the area throughout the years, but his latest position was at John Evans’ Sons in Lansdale, with 20 years of dedicated service prior to his recent retirement in February. Bob had fond memories of growing up on his family’s farm where he would ride his horse Waco near Peace Valley Park.  He graduated from Central Bucks West, class of 1970. He enjoyed skiing and was previously a member of both the Summit Ski Club and the King of Prussia Ski Club. His true passion, however, was sailing, and he spent many happy weekends cruising the Chesapeake Bay with his wife, daughter, and their many sailing friends.  Bob also enjoyed sailing trips in the Virgin Islands, New England, and an adventurous round trip sail to Bermuda.  He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

In addition to his wife and daughter, Bob is survived by his sisters, Claudia Duke of Hellertown, Carol Rowland (Bill) of Doylestown, and his brother Craig Smith (Patty) of Douglassville.  He is also survived by his four nieces and nephews, as well as four great nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to call from 5:00pm to 7:00pm on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 in the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 241 East Butler Avenue (at Sandy Ridge Road) New Britain, PA 18901. There will be a brief service to complete the visitation. Interment will be private.

For those wishing, a memorial donation may be made to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation at www.cbf.org
