John "Jack" Cantwell of New Hope, Pennsylvania died on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at Doylestown Hospital.  He was 79.

The son of the late John Lewis Cantwell and Anne (O'Keefe) Cantwell, Jack was born on April 23, 1939 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  He was a proud graduate of Father Judge High School. In his youth, he had experiences that shaped his life and became the basis for decades of stories.  He served in the U.S. Marine Corps, and he played baseball in the minor leagues in the position of catcher. He had a very successful career in Finance, advancing from a stocks and bonds trader in Philadelphia to a senior executive on Wall Street.  He served on the Board of Governors for the Philadelphia Stock Exchange prior to his retirement.

Married for over fifty years (since divorced) to Mary Ellen (Stewart) Cantwell, Jack is the father of seven children.  He enjoyed having a large family, and in addition to his children, was blessed with great sons and daughters-in-law, as well as beautiful grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Jack is predeceased by his parents and his younger brother, Paul.  He is survived by his sister, Joan Welsh of Egg Harbor Twp, NJ, and his children:  Linda Cantwell (John Lynch) of Warrington, PA; Sharon Cantwell of Louisville, KY; Jack Cantwell (Kathy) of McMinnville, OR; Thomas Cantwell (Melanie) of Jamison, PA; Steve Cantwell (Lynn) of Warrington, PA; Michael Cantwell (Tatiana) of Brooklyn, NY; and Marie Cantwell Kaltz (Jesse) of Fleming Island, FL.

Jack always enjoyed the achievements and antics of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, a large, wonderful group, including grandchildren Matt Cantwell, Maureen Lintel, Andrew Cantwell, Emily Lloyd, Caitlin Menhardt Lutes, Jaclyn Winslow, Meghan Fuller, Larissa Cantwell, Kevin Cantwell, Ryan Cantwell, Carley Cantwell, Luke Cantwell, Madeleine Cantwell, Victoria Cantwell, Connor Norton, Gianna Norton, Shea Norton, Owen Kaltz, Eli Kaltz, Christopher Lynch, Karen Lynch, Daniel Lynch and great-grandchildren Lincoln Lintel, Maizie Winslow, and Jack Lynch.  Included in Jack's family as well were his nieces and nephews, who also made him proud.

Family and friends are invited to join Jack's children in remembering him on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. , with a prayer service to begin at 12:30p.m., at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown Richboro Rd (at Holland Rd.), Richboro, PA  18954.
